Can't get native resolution to work (DELL 2001FP && GeForce FX 5700 LE)

Hi all,

I have a DELL 2001FP with a native resolution of 1600x1200 and a GeForce FX 5700 LE graphic card, and I can't get the 1600x1200 resolution to work. I have a feeling there is more to it than it seems, because the 1600x1200 resolution stopped working in windows too (I can set it to be used, but then I have a scrolling screen). In both systems I am using the latest drivers. Here is the screen section of my xorg.conf
Code:
Section "Screen"
    Identifier "Screen0"
    Device "Card0"
    Monitor "Monitor0"
    SubSection "Display"
        Viewport 0 0
    EndSubSection
    SubSection "Display"
        Viewport 0 0
        Depth 4
        Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "640x480"
    EndSubSection
    SubSection "Display"
        Viewport 0 0
        Depth 8
        Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "640x480"
    EndSubSection
    SubSection "Display"
        Viewport 0 0
        Depth 15
        Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "640x480"
    EndSubSection
    SubSection "Display"
        Viewport 0 0
        Depth 16
        Modes "1600x1200" "1280x1024" "1024x768" "640x480"
    EndSubSection
EndSection
Thanks in advance
PS : I use the nvidia edid feature, and in the nvidia-settings the screen is detected correctly (name), but the 1600x1200 resolution is unavailable.

Are you using the correct vert and horiz sync rates for your monitor in xorg.conf? Similarly, are you specifying the correct video driver? How did you install the nVidia drivers?

Hi, thanks for the reply; the used driver is "nvidia"; installed through portage. the refresh rates are detected by "X -configure"; what is more, the nvidia driver detects everything by itself using edid, at least I think.

Quote:
Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Dell"
ModelName "DELL 2001FP"
HorizSync 31.0 - 80.0
VertRefresh 56.0 - 76.0
Option "DPMS"
EndSection
