Can't get a monitor and tv to work as seperate x screens with GF6800

Hi! I'm a recent Windows convert and I'm trying to set up xorg.conf.

I'm trying to use separate x screens. I'm running PCLinuxOS 2007, I have a GeForce 6800LE card and I'm connected to a Panasonic plasma TV using a S-Video cable. My monitor is a TFT Samsung SyncMaster 171s.

I have installed the latest NVIDIA drivers through Synaptic, I tried configuring through NVIDIA X settings, and I always end up messing up the display.

Would someone be kind enough to give me some tips, or better yet, write me a xorg.conf file for my setup?

Thanks in advance!

Mihailo

When you installed the Nvidia driver (package as we say in Linux land) it also comes with a sample config file with the settings in for twinview. If you have a docs folder have a look in there for the nvidia docs (documents) and take a look at their sample conf file, you may be able to adapt and use it to replace your current xorg.conf file.

I searched the hard disk for nvidia, absolutly no documents. I spent some time looking at other forums, but it seems no one has a full answer to my problem.

Interestingly enough, when I enable twinview (doesn't require x restart), it works flawlessly, but I don't want applications to span across two screens.

I want seperate x screens because I want to play a movie on the tv, not the tv+monitor.

EDIT: It seems that TwinView in Clone mode could do what I need, but I don't know how to enable that.

probably also:
Configuring TV-Out and Configuring Multiple X Screens on One Card

here, have a device section for a TV (edit: the Screen option is commented for me because I launch a new X server to my tv when needed and don't use it otherwise - I never use 2 screens simultaneously. Similarly the ConnectedMonitor option isn't needed when doing 2 screens, I don't think):
Code:
Section "Device"
    Identifier "TV"
    Driver "nvidia"
# Screen 1
    BusID "PCI:3:0:0"
    Option "NoLogo" "1"
# Option "TVOverScan" "0.8"
    Option "TVOutFormat" "SVIDEO"
    Option "TVStandard" "NTSC-M"
    Option "ConnectedMonitor" "TV"
EndSection
if you posted the device and monitor sections(and perhaps the serverlayout too) of your xorg.conf we could probably be more helpful.
