can't format my hard drive with fdisk

I can't format my hard drive with fdisk. I have a SCSI hard drive, so I should be able to use /dev/sda. Well, sda isn't even in the /dev directory, so I can't format my hard drive. I'm using Slackware Linux 10.0, this worked find a year ago, now it doesn't want to work. What is a solution???

My email address is dabauer@dabauer.us, please email me.

Boot with a Slack cd (why not try the 10.2 ) and use the scsi.i kernel.
You wanna install a new system? Did you use this drive actually? Give us more info.

Is the module for the scsi controller loaded?
What is your controller brand and model?
Post output of command lsmod.

scsi.i doesn't even exist

I used adaptec.s and that worked fine. Now, linux won't
run. When I reboot it just comes back with "Press a key to reboot", so it doesn't even work.

Oops i meant scsi.s
You have a list of kernel at boot, when you push F3.
