Is your stick USB 1.0, 1.1, or 2.0 (not the mobo, the stick)? Try doing these commands as root:
modprobe usb-ohci
modprobe usb-ehci
modprobe usb-storage
modprobe sg
modprobe sd_mod
Then post the output of:
cat /proc/scsi/scsi.
