Can't find parallel port /printer

I have just installed FC3 on my generic 1GB AMD system with 198Megs. The program found my HP psc 1210 on USB. It can't seem to find my HP LaserJet on the parallel port. I had the same problem with FC1. On the Gnome hardware browser the laserjet shows up, but when I try to install it through the printer wizard, it says it isn't present. How can I get FC3 to find the printer? If all you have to contribute is, "why do you want two printers," please don't bother to reply.

I don't know if this will be any help, but I'll try.
Under Suse, I need to have two modules loaded to communicate with my HP 882c printer: parport_pc and imm.
Run /sbin/lsmod to see if the parport and imm (or some other) module are loaded relating to printing from the parallel port. If not, then /sbin/insmod parport_pc and /sbin/insmod imm (or whatever module you need) to load the modules, then try again to set up the printer.
