Which Linux distribution are you using ?

Try to see if Linux is still detecting your network card, type:
Code:
dmesg | grep eth
cat /proc/pci | grep Ethernet
To see all services running on the different runlevels, you can use the chkconfig command (not all distributions have this command).
Code:
chkconfig --list
Make sure the network service is ON for runlevel 2, 3 and 5.
