Can't set up printer in Slackware 10.0
When I try to set up my printer (HP PhotoSmart 1115) in CUPS, CUPS does not recognize my parallel port. I tried lprng but it says it cant load the driver for my printer. What do I need to do. I am running Slackware 10.0.

might want to use the Slackware forum as different distros do things a bit differently, and sometimes the advice that works on one of the commerical distros, for instance, won't work in Slackware. Okay, check LinuxPrinting.org That is the definitive site for printing in Linux, and that page is for your printer. If that doesn't work, try this ... |

I downloaded the driver but I still cant print as when I configure CUPS, it does not detect my parrallel port, though it does let me load the driver and it even identifies the driver. Lprng recognizes the parallel port but does not recognize the driver format. How would I make cups recognize my parallel port?
Edit: Let me ask this in the slackware forum. |
I've never used a parallel port in Linux, so I can't walk you through
it. However, I can point you in the right direction. There is more than enough documentation on CUPS here to get it setup... |
