My Debian machine will not detect my USB 2.0 external hard drive. I use this external drive for backup on my work machine (Fedora 3) but this is my 1st time hooking this up to my Debian server and when I issue the "dmesg" command, I get the following:
Code:
ohci_hcd 0000:00:02.1: wakeup
usb 2-4: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 2
usb 2-4: device descriptor read/64, error -110
usb 2-4: device descriptor read/64, error -110
usb 2-4: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 3
usb 2-4: device descriptor read/64, error -110
usb 2-4: device descriptor read/64, error -110
usb 2-4: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4
usb 2-4: device not accepting address 4, error -110
usb 2-4: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 5
usb 2-4: device not accepting address 5, error -110
I know that the drive is formatted so it can be used on Linux or Windows. I think we used the "fdisk" utility to format the drive and selected fat32 or I don't recall exactly but this works on my office machine. Any points in the right direction?
