I have one of the firsts centrinos that appeared about 2 years ago, it has a Intel PRO/Wireless LAN 2100 3B adapter. I tried with almost all linux distributions, i've read ipw2100.sourceforge.net/ and i've installed firmware and drivers but i still can't use the card.

My WiFi led is allways off, i don't know if it is a good indicator that the card is not working or maybe the led is "independent".


I'm thinking to buy a pcmcia card if I could not make it work, i would like to know if it's a common problem with firsts centrinos or it's something i'm doing wrong so i'm not an expert with linux.

if you dont mind switching distros, maybe you can try suse 10, as it advertise itsels to support all the wireless card in the market.

do you enable the card (through bios or shortcut key)?
