Can't record from microphone via krecord on suse 9.1 personal

After reading several threads about how to get soundblaster audigy soundcards recognized, I did change the priority to zero for audigy and voila, krecord suddenly appeared. Problem is, now I can't get krecord to record my microphone through the kmixer. It is recording a .wav file, just nothing is being recoded to it. I have the mic boost on as well. I do record some static noise, it is not totally silent. Just nothihg from the microphone. Also, a sidebar issue, suse won't hold the settings for audigy, so everytime I want to use krecord, I have to go to the suseplugger for hardware, and re-establish the zero setting for audigy. Any ideas out there?
