Can't print to EpsonC40UX

I am running Mandarake 10 & have a EpsonC40UX USB printer that I can't get to work.
The CUPS admin tool tells me this is the default printer. It says;

Epson Stylus C40UX Foomatic/gimp-print-ijs (recommended)
Description: EPSON Stylus C40
Location:
Printer State: stopped, accepting jobs.
"Unable to open USB device "usb://EPSON/Stylus%20C40": No such device"
Device URI: usb://EPSON/Stylus%20C40

The Mtink apllication runs OK and shows me all the ink levels correctly. This application also prints the nozzle test pattern OK.

When I try to print from Xemacs nothing happens. Xemacs shows the message "spooling:done" at the bottom of the window but the printer does nothing.
When I try to print from OpenOffice all seems to be going well. OO.writer correctly prompts me in a window with the C40UX as the printer to use. I click OK and get a message window telling me the file is being printed on the C40UX. Only problem is the printer is silent again.
These 2 print jobs show up in pending jobs under the CUPS application. I can't delete these jobs either. I get the error message;
Error:
client-error-forbidden

Any pointers on getting this printer going appreciated. The system must know it's there as the ink jet test program activates the printer OK. Nothing else will print.
