Can't Multihead - Ati Radeon X700 - SuSE 9.3
Hi
I'm a complete :newbie: to Linux. I just installed SuSE 9.3 on my computer. I have a Radeon X700. I'm windows I can run 2 monitors. In SuSE it won't let me Multihead. It just displays the same thing on both monitors. My Kernal version is 2.6.11.4-20a-smp Here is the output of lspci: Code:
0000:00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 915G/P/GV Processor to I/O Controlle Gary |
please provide /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Do you need Identifier "Monitor[1]"
I only see this one
Section "Monitor" HorizSync 31-48 Identifier "Monitor[0]" ModelName "1024X768@60HZ" Option "DPMS" VendorName "--> VESA" VertRefresh 50-60 UseModes "Modes[0]" EndSection Doesn't your /etc/xorg.conf also need another Section "Monitor" HorizSync 31-48 Identifier "Monitor[1]" ModelName "1024X768@60HZ" Option "DPMS" VendorName "--> VESA" VertRefresh 50-60 UseModes "Modes[0]" EndSection in order to know that you have two monitors? I am not sure about this but this post hasn't progressed for a long time and this addition seems necessary to me. |
almost right,
it does need the other monitor setup but you also need to setup an corrisponding "Device"(ref. 'Section "Device"' from a previous post ) and "Screen"(ref. 'Section "Screen"') |
Is your card PCI express?
I can not seem to get the same one working under UBUNTU. Only mine is a Shapier. |
PciExpress
I have a pciexpress nvidia 6200 with 2 flatscreens,
running suse 10.something(which is totaly crap as you have to write you own /etc/X11/xorg.conf) oh yeah i forgot some thing, if your not useing suse <10< then you can use the program xf86cfg from the terminal or run option(in the KDE menu).xf86cfg is part of most linux/unix GUI's that use X11 or xfree86 as a key component. sorry i should have mensioned this earlyer *note*the <10< means greater than 10 and less than 10 but not 10 itself |
