Can't mount CDROM

I know this problem had been analyzed in several posts on this forum, but still I can't find the solution...

When I try to mount cdrom the error is:

hdd: command error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error }
hdd: command error: error=0x54 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x05 }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
end_request: I/O error, dev hdd, sector 64
hdd: status error: status=0x59 { DriveReady SeekComplete DataRequest Error }
hdd: status error: error=0x54 { AbortedCommand LastFailedSense=0x05 }
ide: failed opcode was: unknown
hdd: drive not ready for command
isofs_fill_super: bread failed, dev=hdd, iso_blknum=16, block=16

Kernel: 2.6.11.9/ Slackware 10.1/LG cdrom

The mounting is just fine under 2.4 kernel. There's no problem with cables or discs in this case.

In my kernel .config there are activated:

CONFIG_IDE_GENERIC
CONFIG_IDE_CHIPSETS
CONFIG_BLK_DEV_GENERIC

I can't figure out what's the problem here....

How did exactly you type for mounting the cdrom?

Maybe there is a command error, this is just a hunch though.
Did you type something like this:
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom

With kind regards,
Hardian

Because /etc/fstab has a record for cdrom, I try to mount this way:
mount /mnt/cdrom

but I also try
mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom.

The problem is in kernel. Something is desactivated or mistaken done. But what?
