Can't mount 'smart'phone
When I try to mount the 'smart'phone with jmtpfs as myself I get:
Quote:
Device 0 (VID=1bbb and PID=0168) is a Alcatel 6030a.
Android device detected, assigning default bug flags
fuse: failed to access mountpoint /home/RandomTroll/Android: Transport endpoint is not connected
|
When I try to mount it as root I get:
Quote:
Device 0 (VID=1bbb and PID=0168) is a Alcatel 6030a.
PTP_ERROR_IO: failed to open session, trying again after resetting USB interface
LIBMTP libusb: Attempt to reset device
Android device detected, assigning default bug flags
mount: /root/Android: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on jmtpfs, missing codepage or helper program, or other error.
dmesg(1) may have more information after failed mount system call.
|
It works as a 'smart'phone (I have no phone service.) but I can't communicate with it.
Does anyone know what I can do? I don't know of any utilities to work with the file system. I've tried all 3 USB ports, all 4 cables.
I loaded a new kernel-firmware package - could that be a problem?

You have provided little or no information about the hardware, the software, or the sequence of events.
What distribution are you using?
What kind of phone are you using?
What versions of Linux kernel, and Android are involved?
Why are you using JMPTFS and what version are you using?
Did this ever work before? IF so, what did you do between then it worked and when it failed?

Slackware, as my profile reveals.

It was the first of a few different tools that I could make work. .5 . I downloaded current source, get the same result.

It has for a couple of years until today. I last used it 3 days ago.

A new kernel-firmware package. Unfortunately I deleted the old. I don't know that that matters.

I found the libmtp tools. They all seem to work. jmtpfs relies on them, which would seem to make this a software problem. The libmtp tools don't mount the device, are less convenient.
It may be a problem with fuse; jmtpfs and simple-mtpfs use fuse; libmtp tools don't.

Reason: Figured something new out.

It started working this morning after I upgraded the current batch of new Slackware packages. I don't see why any would be relevant to this problem.
