Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Can't make the joypad work - using a Creative Sound Blaster PCI 128

As the subject say, I can't make my analog joypad work. I've tried
modprobe snd_ens1371 joystick_port=1
modprobe joydev
modprobe analog

and from what I can make out of the documentation and from what I could find using Google, that's all I need to do to make it popup as /dev/js0 or /dev/input/js0 but nothing happens (I'm using devfs, I don't have to make the node manually, do I?).

I've compiled the "gameport" module, and it loads automatically, so that loads as well, I really don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
