Can't Install Qualcomm Modem Driver

I have a ZTE's WP-960B set which has a Qualcomm Chipset. I am using RedHat Linux 9 and can't find the way to install this hardware. Linux is detecting it but hasn't got the driver for this device. So any help in this regard will be highly appreciated.

Also im new to linux operating system :)

thanks,

rao

I am guessing this is a wireless cdma phone but not sure on that.

What would be the best thing is use a newer distro. Redhat 9 is 4 or 5 years old. Using 2.4 kernels and limited usage of USB devices like the phone. If you wish to stay in the Redhat family of distros then look at installing Fedora Core 5 or 6. Fedora 5 seems a bit less buggier than Fedora 6 but both nearly the same.

Going to Fedora Core 5 or 6 you end up with the latest packages installed. 2.6 kernel tree with many new kernel modules and better hardware detection.

By the way what info is linux telling you?
And which commands you used to see what you see?

At last i was able to install the usb modem and used wvdial to connect to the internet as well. When i start the dial its starts connecting and determines the IPs. But when i go and try to browse any website it is not opening neither is the messenger able to connect.

I tried pinging an ip and was able to get response for that which means that i am connected to the internet. The phone display also shows internet connection being established.

Any suggestions.

Thanks,
rao
