A few days ago I bought a new 17 inch LCD monitor for my desktop. The monitor is a Sony SDM-HS73 and it is connected to a Radeon 64MB card. The monitor is gorgeous in Windows, but I can't get it to work in linux. I tried just now to install SuSe 9, but my monitor won't even get me into YAST. Once I click on installation/manual installation/safe installation, my screen goes black and my monitor announces that it is out of range.
How can I get around this problem?
Most likely your only solution will be a text based install. I've never used SuSE's newer versions (last one was 5.1!) so I'd suggest some googling on how to do it.

Try hitting CTRL-ALT-(-)or(+) to change resolutions. Not sure if this will work if there is no xserver setup yet though. I have a 17" LCD Samsung Syncmaster monitor that I have setup with SuSE 9.0, although I did have to set it as VESA, it still looks tons better than the old CRT I had.
Thanks for the tip, decreasing the res to 1024x768 did the trick, no if I can just figure out how to get my Wireless Intellimouse Explorer to work in YAST, ill be all set

This reminds me of a funny episode we had in our house a couple of months ago:
We have two desktop computers in our house, one my wife uses for her e-mail, word documents and to surf the internet so it doesn't really need much care and if something goes wrong she just tells me and I take care of it. About 3 months ago the mouse on her computer (MS Intellimouse Explorer) stopped working and she was ranting and raving about it being a piece of s*** and it stops working after only 4 months of use. So I happened to stop by CompUSA on my way home from work that day for something else and picked up a Logitech cordless Optical mouse that has worked flawlessly for her since. Now the funny thing is, I was going through some of the stuff in the closet of our den and found the MS Intellimouse she claimed was broken. I changed the batteries and it works fine. I told my wife and she was somewhat embarrased as she thought they were "use it until it stops and toss in the garbage and get a new one" products.
Any way, I guess you had to be there. I just edited the XF86Config file to include the 5 buttons and ZAxisMapping options to enable the additional buttons and the scroll wheel. I selected a generic PS/2 wheel mouse in YAST.
