can't install 2 RAM bricks

Hi,
I've got two RAM bricks which I want to use in the same computer:
512mb ddr cl3
128mb ddr cl2.5

my asus motherboard checks the memory and all is fine until linux (i'm using mdk9.2 kernel 2.4.22) begins booting. i get some kind of error like "couldn't read second ramdisc". but if i now take out the 128mb brick all is fine. so these 2 bricks are not compatible with one another? or is it something i must configure in linux?

thanx in advance
