Can't get MIDI to work, Mandrake 9.1 + Ensoniq ES1370, need help!
Hey all,
Well, my 9.1 upgrade seems to have gone good so far.
I know I can configure things using harddrak so that my Ensoniq ES1370 AudioPCI card will use either the OSS driver (es1370) or the ALSA driver (snd-ens1370).
And with either one, it works.
BUT . . (and you knew there was a 'but' . . . ) I can't seem to figure out how to get this thing to play MIDIs.
XMMS allows me to select .mid files, but they won't play.
I've tried to use sndconfig instead . . but apparently in Mandrake, sndconfig recognizes but doesn't support this card.
Has anyone gotten Mandrake 9.1 to play MIDI files with this card. If I need the midi samples (or whatever they're called), I know I've got the eapci2m.ecw and eapci4m.ecw files, if they're needed. I guess these are the soundfonts that are used?
Thanks in advance. If need be, I might try switching to RedHat 9 instead, but I know prior versions of RedHat didn't seem to like working on my system (Socket 7, VIA MVP3 chipset, and AMD cpu), so I'd prefer to avoid that if possible.
