can't get an audio CD mounted?

when i try to mount an audio CD as a regular user I get the following:
root@home:/home/jb# mount /dev/cdrom
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/cdrom,
or too many mounted file systems

my fstab looks like this:
/dev/hdb2 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/hdb1 / ext3 defaults 1 1
/dev/hdb5 /home ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdb6 /usr ext3 defaults 1 2
/dev/hdb3 /fat-common vfat uid=1001 1 0
/dev/hda8 /fat-music vfat uid=1001 1 0
/dev/hda7 /fat-docs vfat uid=1001 1 0
/dev/hda6 /fat-dwnld vfat uid=1001 1 0
/dev/hdb9 /back-music vfat uid=1001 1 0
/dev/hdb8 /back-doc vfat uid=1001 1 0
/dev/hdb7 /back-dwnld vfat uid=1001 1 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,ro,uid=1001 0 0
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
devpts /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0

where uid=1001 is the user I use to access the CDROM and the fat partitions.

I can mount a data CD, but not the audio...now that I think about it I have never tiried to mount an audio CD until yesterday when my fiancee asked me to play one of her CD's!

Please help.

Thanks
-C

You don't mount an audio CD. You just open your cd player and play it.

i tried this too...and it could not play.
it gives me the following error:
CD-ROM read or access error (or no audio disc in drive).
Please make sure you have access permissions to:
/dev/cdrom

Hmm, the user is listed, but it doesn't want to play. Can you play as root?

I figured it out.

I added my user to the disk group and that was it!

I'm not sure if this is a security risk, but I will live with it for now...unless you or someone else tells me different.

Thanks for your help.

I don't think so, as long as user 1001 has a good password.
Glad you sorted it out.
