Can't access wifi
Installed MX Linux on an older Dell Latitude E6430. Runs fine but I need help setting up the wifi. I mainly use my local library to use the internet. I don't know what to add for the SSID, BSSID, Device, and Cloned MAC address. Thanks.
Using the network assistent it show the following:
wlan0 iwlwifi - wireless interface Intel Corp. Centrino Advanced-N6205 [Taylor Peak] rev34
It sees the wifi device but won't enable.

Most librarys are open networks, meaning you do not need a password to connect. You can ask at the library if is password protected.
As for SSID, if your system has Networkmanager installed, you shoud see an icon in the task bar for NM. Left click should open a pop up and that will show the SSID's of the networks your system can see. Most publis locations use an SSID that is obvious. Beside the SSID will be a 'connet' button. Click it, and NM will do the rest.
Private networks that are locked, you will need more information to connect.

Per this article, that device is supported under Linux.
This from the Gentoo wiki may offer some hints on getting it working.
Full disclosure: I have no direct experience with that device.

you need to distinguish in this question
0. The device is present
>> lspci
1. Is the device responding to normal wifi commands.
>> ifconfig
>> iwspy
>> iwconfig
2. Can the devices see ANYTHING.
>> iwlist wlan0 freq
- did you setup your /etc/rc.d or equivalent to enable the device to be managed by the network manager?
- in slackware you have to execute enable the appropriate /etc/rc.d/ file, (which is no longer rc.wireless due to changes).
>> iwlist wlan0 scan
3. If the device can see the wifi service, but just cannot access it.
>> iwlist wlan0 auth
>> wpa_gui
>> nmcli
>> nmtui
Answers here will be entirely different for each situation.
