Can't access dvd or cdrom!

My DVD and CDROM drives have gotten completely messed up. When trying to access either I get the error:

"Could not mount device.
The reported error was:
mount: only root can mount /dev/dvd on /media/dvd"

The related /etc/fstab entries are as follows:

/dev/cdrecorder /media/cdrecorder subfs noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0
/dev/dvd /media/dvd subfs noauto,fs=cdfss,ro,procuid,nosuid,nodev,exec,iocharset=utf8 0 0

Yast shows the devices as having no "link" or "mount point". When I press the add button it appears to create one, but when I reopen the dialog it's back to normal.

Any ideas!?

I have Suse 9.3.
If I insert a data CD an icon with the name of that CD will appear in the "My Computer" folder (on the desktop). Clicking on the icon opens the CD.
The "My Computer" folder simply displays the /media directory.
If you try to mount the CD as /media/CDROM (or whatever your CD is called) it wants root permission to use the mount command. Manual mounting requires root permission. The CD is probably already mounted.

If it was mounting somewhere, I wouldn't be asking this question =/
