Most cameras with a usb interface require no drivers. They are detected as usb mass storage devices.

So what happens when to try to access the camera using something like digikam (after configuring it as a usb mass storage device).

I have an old IBM Pro Cam which works fine under linux. Just need to compile the driver into the kernel or as a module. See video4linux section of kernel... I forget where the usb webcam driver was for my cam... I think in USB Drivers section.

Communicate with camera with xawtv

But first try what redazz said and see if it's working now!

Unhappy

Hello All,
I'm having problems also trying to import pictures into Fedora 5, digiKam opens and when I go to import pictures I get this error (An error occurred in the io-library (Could not lock device) Camera is already in use)?
I can't see any other camera in use? How do I fix the problem?

When you are asked for the model of the camera, instead of choosing a specific brand, select the option that says usb mass storage device.
