Buying new videocard, feedback appreciated!
Hi everyone, I have decided to join the 21st century and get a 3d accelerator card. :) I need 32 megabytes of video memory, so right now I'm thinking of either a Radeon 7000, GeForce 2, or Matrox G4xx. What I was wondering is, which of these has the best driver/ linux support? I saw a system with an ATI card once, and it crashed a lot when using things like 3d screensavers. After the commercial driver was installed, the thing ran fine. If any of you have had experiences using 3d cards under linux, I'd love it if you could let me know.

The best supported card would probably be the nvidia based cards since Nvidia has released drivers for linux and they are ahead of ATI in the driver area.

If you're thinking of dual head, then the Matrox G550 and G450 are pretty badass too, if you want to game on them however, might as well go with a Nvidia... like Palin said, they really do have the best support.
