Smile buying a modem for debian linux

Hi all, I don't have internet access as my supra express56e/i pro modem isn't recognised by linux. Also I don't have a motherboard with an rs232 port (or could have used an older external modem I have). Does anyone know of a modem solution that works and where I might buy it?

Thanks,
Greeb (U.K.)

Personally, I've always had great luck with 3com/USR cards

I've had very good luck with 3Com/USR 2976 modems. (Check NewEgg.com) The key to a good linux modem is finding one with the DSP controllers built on the modem card. You'll pay more for this though.

Newer motherboards. The serial ports are being eliminated in favor of USB ports. They've already been gone from laptops for some time.
