Hello,
recently I had to update my Slackware 9.1 to 10.2, I actually used 10.0 for about a year but due to a power failure my main partition got damaged and I had to reinstall everything. Now, I don't have Slackware 10.2 CDs so I used my old 9.1 to install a basic system which I could then upgrade to 10.2, which I did in about 2 days (this is relevant...). Ok, everything seemed to be going well until I booted up my new 10.2. The first thing I noticed was these strange errors regarding DMA being disabled:
scsi0 : SCSI host adapter emulation for IDE ATAPI devices
hdb: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdb: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC }
hdb: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdb: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC }
hdb: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdb: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC }
hdb: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
hdb: dma_intr: error=0x84 { DriveStatusError BadCRC }
hda: DMA disabled
ide0: reset: success
Now I know for a fact that my HD is ok, I did a full disk scan after my system crashed the first time, everything came out clean. And the two days I ran with 9.1 slack everything was working perfectly also. Now I'm thinking that maybe there is some kind of bug in this new kernel (2.4.31) since it never happened with older ones.
Have anybody come across this problem, I did googled for it but nothing relevant came out?
I'd appreciate any help, since my system is crawling without DMA.
Bellow my full dmesag:
