Bt878 TV Card No sound
 
I have no sound from mythtv or xawtv using mandrake 9.2. I am using a bt878 driver with no options added. Im new to this and i would like to hear what i am watching if at all possible. I hope that you can help

P.s. my sound card driver is snd-cmipci with no options

I looked i tried but no luck has anyone got the stetting that they use so i could try. I have a modular tech card.

My card is not connected directly to the sound card i think that the sound myst just go through the motherboard to my sound card if that helps.

You need to connect the audio out of the TV card to the line-in of the sound card. You should have got a connector for that.
You should also check the dmesg output (grep for bttv) and see what it says about multimedia device.
You can also do without the line-in connector but you need to change the audio settings for that. Check the manual of your TV card for details.

I had the same issue, and not sure if its this simple for you but the volume in linux needs to be set higher than it does in windows.

As bhaskie already said, you need to connect the tv-card with the line in of your sound card

What type of lead do i need? is the type used to connect the cd drive to the sound card?
