Please help me to setup BSNL's WLL modem
Model is Linktop CT800P.
Device is detected as "FWP USB Modem 3197" in Windows XP.
I've setup this device in Windows XP, but unable to do the same in Linux.
Any help would be appreciated.
Would help if we knew what version/distro of Linux you're running. Also, what's "BSNL WLL"??
From a brief Google search, I think that's a Huwaei USB wireless broadband modem. You should be able to configure it using 'wvdialconf', then 'wvdial' to connect, but don't really know, since we don't have details about your system.
"BSNL WLL"? BSNL: is Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, its telephone and internet service provider in India. WLL: is Wireless Local Loop...its a device integrated with fixed wireless phone along with CDMA modem.
They provide this device for telephone as well as internet(particularly rural areas).
previously there were other devices from company like "LG" and "Huawei", both use to work in Linux.
This time i am out of luck with Linktop.
wvdial doesn't detects it at all.
i know how to make internet connections through Linux, but no idea about the drivers, finding/loading them.
My system: Intel p4 processor with Asus P5KPL-AM IN motherboard

The device you're using now is still made by Huawei. It's just rebranded for your telco.

Does wvdialconf not pick it up? And have you checked any of the other Huawei tutorials for Ubuntu on Google?? Seen lots for different models that may help you out.
...
fixed wireless phone along with CDMA modem.
...
btw, m glad someone replied.
Not answering your question, but for curiosity, what is "fixed wireless phone along with CDMA modem"?
I did netsearch for answers to your question when you first posted but found nothing (so did not reply because it would have taken the thread off the "zero reply list" and stopped auto-bumping). Seems this equipment is very new because found nothing.
Presuming from "Device is detected as "FWP USB Modem 3197" in Windows XP" that it is a USB device, does it show up in lsusb output? If so it might be helpful to post the lsbusb -v output for it.
i have same problem i search every where but i did not get driver of this same bsnl wll modem
Did you read the previous posts??? Did you try wvdialconf? Have you looked at ANY of the very-easily-found documentation about Huwaei modems on Linux???? Try installing usb_modeswitch, and running it if you haven't, then run wvdialconf or whatever network manager you want. These steps haven't changed in years.
Also, please see the "Question Guidelines" link in my posting signature...you don't provide any details that would let us help you.
