Brother MFC-9840CDW scanning on kubuntu

Hello, the printer works great in ubuntu with no configuration needed (just plugged it in), but xsane can't find the scanner.

Any ideas? I'm using kubuntu 11.10 on a few computers, usb is used on one of them, the printer's network port on the rest of them.

Thanks

Have you installed brscan3 from here -->http://welcome.solutions.brother.com...n.html#brscan3 ?

The link has install instructions. There is another tool called scan-key-tool, would be a good idea if you installed it to.

You will need to add your user to the scanner group also.
