Brother Laser Printer image not centered & tray malfunction

Hi all,

I just upgraded my server from Slack 11 to 12, and am now running cups 1.2.11. I use the printer drivers from Brother, and install in the way explained on their site. The problem is that with one of the printers (HL-5150D) the image is now too low on the page. I can't find any way to affect this in any of the settings. In addition, it refuses to feed paper from the manual tray.

Can anyone help with this?

Thanks,
Brian

Might want to try a different driver...

Thanks a lot.

I didn't know about this site (or about PPDs, for that matter), so I've learned some new things. And installing a PPD is much easier than getting the rpm, getting alien, and converting to tgz and installing.

And best of all, my problem is solved.

However, I have noticed a new problem, which is that all lines (except the footer divider) is much much heavier than they were under Slack 11 (with probably an older Brother-supplied driver). I think it is a postscript problem, because when this printing issue used to come up on occasion, we solved it by changing the PS level. That isn't working this time.

Thanks.

Brian
