Brooktree bt878 problems in /dev

i've just recompiled my kernel with Video4Linux and I2C. i was tryn to follow a guide for installing and configuring the bttv drivers, however i cant do anything unless i have /dev/video and /dev/radio. which i dont have for some reasons....

cat /proc/pci | grep t878

root@XCoRe:~# cat /proc/pci | grep t878
Multimedia video controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Video Capture (rev 17).
Multimedia controller: Brooktree Corporation Bt878 Audio Capture (rev 17).

i've compiled I2C as a module and Video4Linux as a built-in. i dont know if that makes a big difference.

Module                  Size  Used by
video_buf              20228  0
v4l2_common            6144  0
btcx_risc              5256  0
i2c_core              23296  0
videodev                8704  0
nvidia              4821300  12
sis900                18436  0

i have no idea what could be done, since i cant figure out why /dev/video* is missing in the first place.
can anybody gimme a hand!! i've spent ALOT of time around this and dont wanna give up until i know that
the card is complitely useless.

here is my set:
Slackware 10
Kernel 2.6.7
LifeView Flyvideo98 (Brooktree Corproration) >> bt878

thnx alot for ur time!

Do you have compile the bt8x8 driver, it seems that it wasn't loaded, unless it has change his name? For the device file, you certainly have a script MAKEDEV in your /dev directory, his purpose is to generate common device file, but his location and utilisation depends on your distribution, so edit it there is an explanation on head of the file. Sometimes it's an binary file, so "MAKEDEV --help" will display help message.
