I hope I'm posting this in the right spot, I am sorry If I did not. I have an old computer that does not have WiFi in it and requires a "antenna" I believe it is called, to receive WiFi. It is not working and when I click the Wifi sign it says that there is something there, I'm assuming my antenna, but that It does not have the drivers. When I look under hardware to try and fix it, it says that there are drivers available for Broadcom Corporation BCM4303 802.11b Wireless LAN controller, but when I click on them it attempts to go to the website to download the driver, is it necessary to hook it up via. Ethernet cable to download the driver (i ask because it's heavy and the router with the only Ethernet cable is downstairs...) or is there some other way? I've tried google but I can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I hope that you guys might be able to help, this is my first time using Linux so I'm a bit of a noob.
I'm assuming you mean of Linux? I'm running Mint 10.
Thank you for the link! I believe that is exactly what I am looking for! I shall try it as soon as possible.

Mint does not support in-place version upgrades. They recommend a new install. Of course, you could try one, but, if you do, you need to back up just as if you were going to reinstall from scratch. And v. 10 to v. 17 is a big jump--a new install would probably be wise, even if Mint supported in-place version upgrades.
I did say that Broadcom works fine under Mint, but it does not work out-of-the-box. You will still need to start with a wired connection and follow the instructions about how to get Broadcom working.
