Broadcom BCM4318 [AirForce One] 54g 802.11 WLAN Card support on Fedora 10

Hello LQ! I dual-booted Windows XP Home Edition 64-bit with Fedora 10 32-bit on my HP Pavilion Laptop. Fedora 10 seems to run smoothly on my laptop but I can't get the wireless card up and running. I have a Broadcom BCM4318 [AirForce One] 54g 802.11 WLAN Card. I have seen some nice guides on rpmfusion, ndiswrapper and yum, but the problem is that I can't access the internet using fedora 10. I would greatly appreciate and help on this as it is a very big problem for me.

Sincerely,

leopard

here you go read this and install. the bcm chip drivers have been open source for a long time. But the firmware extractor is proprietary . so it will not be in your distro. but your allowed to down load it and extract but Linux distro's can't distribute it.

I don't have internet in any form for Linux. I'm using Windows right now. How do I download something for Linux on Windows and then make it usable for Linux?

Download it on windows and then restart to Linux. Then mount the windows partition. Use fdisk -l to see what all partitions correspond to which file system. Careful when you use fdisk, if you don't know what you doing, please read about it. More about mounting, just google.

Ok, I'll read it up on google and I'll tell you if it worked or not. Thanks!

I found a nice article on how to mount the Windows partition to the linux partition. But I'm still not sure what I need to download on Windows to transfer to Linux to get my Card working. If some one could paste a Link on what programs I should download or walk me through it, I would greatly appreciate that.

Its there on the page already mentioned, http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43. I guess why you couldn't understand is because of this.

1. wget is commonly used download manager, so where ever you see wget -c XXXX , where XXX is a filename. Download it on windows.
2. files with .tar.gz extensions are compressed files, like zip. There are some windows programs available online which you can use to untar it, but in your case after mounting the windows partition on linux, untar it there on linux.

Whenever in doubt what command does, just do man XXXX, where XXXX is the command.
