Broadcom 4311 distributions

I have a Compaq/HP laptop that currently has Ubuntu 7.10 running on it. Its wireless card is a Broadcom 4311. I am having trouble getting it to work. I have tried many HOWTOs and I always seem to hit a dead end. Are there any distributions that are compatible with the card with little work or Plug N Play?

Thanks

Short answer: no.

... the trick is getting the firmware. This link uses ndiswrapper with the windows driver supplied with the card.

... however, there is a kernel driver for these cards. You need to find the firmware and use fwcutter (install with synaptic) to extract the driver.

U7.10 uses bcm4xx while hardy has the b43 driver. But check.

bcm43xx

and blacklist the normal driver

I have gotten this one to work with ndiswrapper on some distros but not in others. Its just a bad card for linux.
