Bootup fan noise really loud

The cpu fan is really noisy during bootup. Once OS has loaded the fan quietens down and everything runs smooth. I have noticed that if I reboot the machine the fan noise is normal(quiet). Anyone got any ideas, I really don't want to start pulling the machine apart yet. Could there be an aggressive setting in the BIOS or something. Mobo is a K7VT2 and a Athlon XP processor.

Thanks

That's normal (i guess). I have seen or should i say, heard that on a lot of computers. You boot up the computer and for a second or 2 it's really loud, but then settles down. I wouldn't worry much. Annoying? Probably. But oh well. Doesn't justify ripping apart the computer. My work computer (P4 3gig from Dell) does the same thing. Not even 3 weeks old.

Thanks for the reply, it's good to know nothings about to break/fry.
