Sounds like you are dual booting and your boot manager (either lilo or GRUB) is giving you your boot options. Choose one (use the arrow keys to select) then press Enter. If I am not understanding your question correctly please clarify-- J.W.

hi
no that is not the problem - if i try to install linux from a dvd the hardware recognition doesnt find any hd drives ( that is the best case usually the system hand after a few seconds)
I try debian sarge and suse92 its in both cases the same problem - no hdd's.
For windows installation i can build a driver disk and this works fine on the stripe set and i think its a driver problem with the linux installation
but where i can get the linux driver

thanks in advance
ede

The Nforce 4 RAID, from what I know is a Software RAID. Last I checked there was no Nvidia driver for the NVRAID under Linux. You are better off using the RAID software already included in the 2.4.x Linux kernels or above. The software RAID under Linux is much more powerful and should have the same effect as the Nforce 4 software RAID. There are a few good tutorials if you search for "Linux Software RAID" in google. I hope that helps and good luck.

Hi Jelfn

yes i know that the nforce4 raid isnt a true hardware raid but i will boot from it and this isnt possible with the linux software raid driver

my intention was to use the full speed of my new hardware

I am very interested in this subject because I want to dual boot winxp and linux (possibly debian or suse) on my nforce4 sata raid.

unfortunately I can't find any drivers for my raid for linux. I read somewhere that dmraid supported nforce4 sata raid, but I have no idea how I should install linux on my system as dmraid is no kernel module (or something ... I am a noob).

anyone any ideas ... I am pretty stuck.

Help very much appreciated.
