boot up times

I have Ubuntu 7.10 installed on my computer which has a 848 processor and 512 ram. The bootup takes 6 minutes each time which is far too long. What is the cause and the remedy please. Thanks
Eddie

Try disabling some services and search google for guides on speeding it up, but their probably is a problem with your installation or hardware that makes it take a long time to boot, any strang hardware in your PC?
