Boot up problems with Win XP and Mandrake Linux

Alright everyone, I'm having some problems with the Mandrake 9.2 LILO start up. I have two hard drives and my HDA is running Linux and my HDB is running Windows. I tell LILO that I want to have a Windows option but that I want it to be /dev/hdb not /dev/hdb1. Does anyone know how to change this manually without the LILO config wizard?

I'm pretty sure that using hdb1 is correct and that using just hdb is not.
If you have swaped the Windows disk from primary master to primary slave you also need the "map-drive" option.

Hi:
I was doing the same procedure as you were yesterday, I messed up at the LILO and I had to reformat both disks as it failed to recognise any disks other than a oem reset cd.
Any case, that is besides the point, I thought your c drive has to be on hda (I am no expert), I had it first on hdb but could not boot from it even after specifying the drive. Let me know how it get sorted out. I also remember moving the entire c drive from one physical drive to another (like hda to hdb) using Pmagic on an old emachine!

From "man lilo.conf":
The following, swaps the C: and D: drives,
map-drive=0x80
to=0x81
map-drive=0x81
to=0x80
You would edit your /etc/lilo.conf file and place those lines under a line that looks like:
# other operating systems:
other=/dev/hda3
label=dos (or windows)
And then run /sbin/lilo as root. The file needs to be edited and saved as root.
