Boot Linux from Compact Flash IDE

Hello all,

I came across some devices that let you access a compact flash memory card through an IDE channel (I saw them at menlomart.com). I was wondering if any of you out there has experience with this? If so, what are the general steps you took to make it work?

Ideally I'd like to run iptables off the card and use it as a router. What's the minimal install needed? Also, how big of a CF card do you need?

Thanks much!

I built LFS 4.0 and then put it on compact flash. To get it to boot I used lilo and specified the compact flash as the boot drive. When connected to other computer it was /dev/sda. In CF IDE it becomes /dev/hda. You have to use two different lilo.conf scripts.
