boot from USB

hi
I'm interested in Linux systems booting from usb flash drive or similar.
Is there a very fast device to boot so?
Which are the booting mean times with your typical devices?
Could the system boot from card reader?
thanks in advance

Angelo,
I find that, http: //www .sysresccd. org/ Main_Page (remove the spaces to go to the url)verison of Linux boot from a usb flash drive well. I use it as well as Insert for data recovery. I use Knoppix, a verison of Linux that runs off a CD. I can't tell you speeds, I can tell you that is seems to take longer to boot from a usb drive than a hard drive. Hope that helps.
