boot failure

My boot up failed and the system reports a hard disc block error and gives number. Then says to run fsck but when I do message tells me that fsck has gone into hibernation. The error is not fixed and on subsequent reboot the system reports the same error. Is there any way I can get at the data or recover the hard disk? Red hat 7.2

Hi!
Don't you have a boot disk? Yes? It could help you
or much better, do you have a live CD linux? Boot with it and do fdisk ('fdisk /dev/hd?', where 'hd?' is the device you'd like to repair)
If not, you could try this (I'm not sure about RedHat) boot with your installation cd and enter in rescue mode. There (I repeat, if this exists in RedHat) you should be able to do fdisk
Regards
