blurry screen with nvidia GEforce 6200 driver on sony vaio VGN FS690

I have suse 9.3 on a sony vaio vgn-fs690 with a nvidia GE go 6200 graphics card. I updated the driver through YOU, and enabled the 3d graphics which eliminated the acid-trip on the screen. However, I ain't that impressed with the resolution- it looks a little blurry. Yast configuration shows the correct 1200x800 resolution, but I suspect it's not right. Sax2 says the same, except under "current active geometry timings", it says 1024x768 which I can't change. Does anyone know what that means, or if that might be the problem? Also, under the "SUSE hardware tool" device manager it lists a "display" with the correct driver and settings, however, it also lists a "monitor" with the 1024x768 value and a "generic" driver. Is this related possibly? I'm not sure where to look to find what resolution is actually being used.

thanks.
