BluRay authoring on BSD? (OSX actually)

So I have a good friend who is a film maker. He occasionally comes to my house to burn a BluRay disk of his latest work on my windows machine because apparently Macs don't support BluRay players.

Has anyone managed to sort out BluRay authoring on a BSD platform? I'm guessing it's both an issue of drivers to talk to the BluRay device but also an issue of authoring software.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can both play and author BluRay on an Apple. You just need a blu ray drive, and some appropriate software. The later of which is not free to the problem may be more a disinclination to purchase than an inability to do the operatiosn.

To playback, try Mac Blu Ray Player (http://www.macblurayplayer.com/). Both Adobe Premier Pro and Final Cut can make BluRay discs on a Mac at the higher price point ($800-1000) or at lower cost Shedworks Revolver HD or Roxio's Toast Titanium Pro ($40-150).
