I have a Bose bluetooth headset which works well on my mobile with good quality sound and the mic working. But on my Slackware PC I can either choose A2DP for good playback sound but no mic, or headset head unit mode which makes the mic work but the sound is terrible. Even complete silence is hissing somehow

I have been searching for how to fix it on and off for a few days now but all I have found is people who didn't seem to care about the mic not working and just wanted good playback sound. Or scripts to automatically switch between good playback and bad quality with mic mode.

Most of these old posts are over a year old though, so has anyone got a bluetooth headset working yet with the A2DP profile and mic support at the same time?

I have turtle beach stealth 450 headphones. Has its own usb dongle to go wireless and works perfectly on Fedora, Ubuntu, and raspbian (both sound and mic). Don't have the bluetooth woes some have.
