Bluetooth Headphones Issues
Hello all,
I recently bought a pair of Plantronics Backbeat Go 810 Bluetooth headphones. To start, Bluetooth wouldn't connect to them (or any Bluetooth headphones) at all, I fixed that through the pulseaudio-bluetooth-module method. Then they worked no problem. Fast forward to a few days later and the problems start. They connect fine and everything, but no sound comes out. I've tried the usual troubleshooting steps with pavucontrol and alsamixer but nothing worked. What's even weirder is that I have another pair of bluetooth earbuds (Jaybird X4) and they work flawlessly since I installed/reinstalled pulseaudio-module-bluetooth. The only thing that I could think of is that the Jaybirds show up as "Headphones" while the Plantronics show up as "Headset". I should mention that I'm running Debian 10. In addition I have an old laptop that also runs Debian 10 and both headphones worked on there. You guys will probably want the output of some command or other...
Thanks for the help!

You say they worked fine for a few days. No need to dig into hardware specifics. A default Debian comes with Gnome, yesterday I had my BT speaker linking no problem on first try after a new Gnome OS install but after reboot it was a little stubborn.
Anyway it finally gave the beep when it connected but no sound, so I opened Settings/Sound and had to select it from the list of output devices, still nothing, then I hit "Test" and they appeared dead/dim but clicked on the right side and it hesitated for like 4 seconds then they both lit up and I hit it again and now it worked. Gnome always gives me the same headaches no matter which Linux. I've got identical Gentoos with Gnome and KDE, if the speaker is powered up when I boot KDE, it connects automatically, not Gnome.

Just a little useless information.
To get my BT speaker to connect with Linux in the past, I had to make sure pulseaudio-module-bluetooth was installed, which I also installed in my Gentoos the first time I installed them. In the past few days I reinstalled both Gentoos but this time without pulseaudio-module-bluetooth because I found I had a couple features in the kernel not enabled that might help. Hit the jackpot with the new kernel configuration, the BT speaker connects as well as it did on any mainstream Linux that requires pulseaudio-module-bluetooth.
