Looks good. The ONLY thing I might change about it is the speakers. You're going to the trouble to get a REAL 5.1 soundcard, you might as well get 5.1 speakers. They can be a pain to get working 5.1, but I've seen it done on several machines, and the difference in sound quality from 2.1 to 5.1 IS noticable.

Why the A7V8X? It's a fine board, I have it myself, but I found out later that the nForce2 chip is faster (5-10%). So now I'd go for the A7N8X, or the Chaintech 7NJL1 Apogee.
Make sure that you get 2 strips of RAM to make use of dual-channel memory, which works faster. I still think 1 Gig of ram is overkill, but that's your choice.

The board you mention is only £22 extra, perhaps it is worth it? Maybe I'll go with it. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

I'd agree. I was wondering that myself, but thought maybe you had something personal against the NForce 2 chipset...

LOL. Nothing personal, I just don't know too much about hardware, I just know what components I need, but not the in depth differences between them!
I have changed my order now, so I am getting the A7N8X.
Thanks for your help!
