Best way to add new drive to system with existing Linux raid arrays

I have a 32-bit Ubuntu 10.04 box with two MDADM Linux raid arrays and the system drive is pretty much hosed to the point where I have to install a new distro.

What is the best way to do this so that the new install will recognize the new arrays? This is my first time having to do it - so I thought I should ask..

Thank you.

On a whim I went ahead and put the old CD in the drive to reinstall the original distro - which of course wanted to re-partition the system drive. I went ahead and did it - and the install recognized the Linux raids and installed mdadm automatically - so we'll see how it all turns out. I'm sure I still have some work ahead of me...

I was able to install the base distro (Ubuntu 10.04) and do a release upgrade to 12.04 and then remount the raids - so it all worked out well. No real fuss about it.

Just to confirm. Has this been solved? Are you able to mark as solved?
