Best Wacom Tablet?

I'm interested in buying a tablet for my GIMP use. I also plan on taking it to work to use with the photoshop I have there. I've never owned a tablet before, but have heard good things about the wacom tablets with linux.

I'm running Ubuntu Feisty on a pretty new machine with 2GB RAM.
What is the best way to go about selecting which tablet to buy? Which one is "the best" for the money? Does size matter? Is there a good resource for comparison? Will it work out of the box, or will I have to wrestle with it for weeks? Which one do you use? What do you like about it and what would you change if you could?

Thanks for your input.

Size of the stylus does not matter. Actually smaller is better. A larger stylus is used for very, very big projects such as for large CAD drawings.

I suggest wired stylus instead of wireless stylus because a wired stylus is more reliable.

I have not used or bought a stylus. Wacom stylus should work in Linux with minimal problems.
