Best video card in UK for under £100 ???

Hello if your reading!
Its about time i got rid of my 32Mb Nvidia TNT2 Pro card and got something to handle the games of todays market. Im willing to pay up to 100 squids (any foreign peepz thats 100 GBP not euros) but i do not like the thought of wasting money.
I am leaning towards 64Mb Geforce 4 MX 440 (£55-£70), my motherboard isn't AGP 8x but should i be looking at that version for upgradability? (its only around £10 more)

Also, any views on this card and Mandrake 9 talking from experience would be great.

Think i should be getting more than 64Mb video??? Tell Me!

I think that you shoud consider Radeon9000(pro) (it's around 100€, sorry for €), which is much better card, for games and it will serve you more, for later games. It's full DirectX 8.1 compatible and GF4MX440 is DX7 card, it's more (fastest)GF2 than GF4.

But Nvidia has better drivers, though.

No, more than 64MB for that class is waste of money, although radeon9000 can use 128MB and GF4MX4xx can't.

If you get an nVidia card, then you must also get the drivers from the nVidia site. You should get the ones that end in .tar.gz because they invariably are the easist to install, and they are the most flexible. I can't really make any suggs about which card and from where... I'm still running on a lowly GF2! However, I can say that Scan's Today Only page often has decent cards up for cheap! Worth keeping an eye on. HTH

There are quite a few video cards under 100 quid is just a matter of checking :
www.microdirect.co.uk
www.aria.co.uk
www.overclocker.co.uk
www.overclockers.co.uk
But go for an nvidia based video card, because u can find drivers for it at www.nvidia.com(they offer 3d hardware accelaration)whereas radeon for linux only offer 2d hardware acc. which is no good for
the newly realesed unreal tournament 2003 which can be played under linux!!as well as return to castle wolfenstein, unreal tournament and a few more!!

Thanks for your comments, i checked out http://www.microdirect.co.uk and found 'Gainward GeForce 4 PP MX/600 TV Mini Jumbo AGP [MX 440 128MB SDR TV-out] ' for ONLY £64.63! :D

I think i might have to whip out the plastic sometime!
Im not tripping am i? that is a 'decent' 128Mb graphics card for CHEAP, in the UK aswell (including VAT)!
Does everyone (who reads this) think its a good buy?
