Best version of Linux for an Imac G3
I have just aquired an IMAC G3 366, and i was wondering what PPC version of linux would be best for it.....
I would like to run just linux, not MAC OS 8.6....any help would be greatly appreciated...but any dual boot info would be good too.....I haven't used one of these beasts before.....thanx:Pengy: These are the Specs on my Imac.... G3 366 MHZ OS ver 8.6 currently has 32 MB ram (will be gettin more) 4 GB HD :Pengy: |
First off... You don't have a 366mhz iMac. You have a 333mhz (or 266mhz) tray loading iMac, unless you overclocked the damn thing...
I would say YDL (www.yellowdoglinux.com) is your best bet. RedHat based and very easy to learn for people new to Linux. Also of note... Debian. They have a great port to the PPC platform, however you will need to have some Linux experence to get everything working. |
thanx, i was gonna try debian on my PC, so maybe i will look for some PPC iso's of Debain Linux.....and yes I HAVE EXPERIENCE....
I am not a mac person.....in fact i never use the darn things...but good to know that it is actually 333mhz.... |
